The mythical Genesect will be available for a short time after Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 release, but gamers will have to act fast if they want to catch this illusive monster.
When the first ever pair of Pokemon sequels are released, consumers will have just over a month to download Genesect. The distribution event will go from October 7th to November 12th, and after that the classic pocket monster will go back into Nintendo’s version of the Disney Vault. This creature has never been available through any other means, other than hacking, so any dedicated fan will have to make sure they’ve connected their DS or 3DS to a solid WiFi connection in order to download the character.
For those not up on the lore of this ancient Pokemon, Genesect was resurrected from a 300 million year old fossil. Team Plasma has since modified the beast, making it more dangerous than ever before. The resurrected monster is the only known Pokemon that can use the move ‘Techno Blast’, making it a worthwhile addition to anyone’s team. It’s also a Steel/Bug type Pokemon that has the ability to alter its stats based on the enemy it’s facing.
Handing out rare Pokemon in-game is nothing new for the Big N — Pokemon Black and White owners can head to GameStop now and download Keldeo — so this is just one more incentive that fans of the series will enjoy. Genesect likely won’t have too much influence on day-one buyers, but it’s a lot better than the non-existent pre-order bonuses they currently have in place for Black 2 and White 2.
Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 will launch exclusively on the Nintendo DS this October 7th.
