Smith said Thursday he’s “kind of pissed off’ he’s behind Ryan Fitzpatrick once more. The Jets and Fitzpatrick agreed to a one-year, $12 million contract Wednesday as the team was reporting to training camp in New Jersey. The agreement ended a monthslong impasse that temporarily made Smith the Jets’ No. 1 quarterback again.

In this interview (video from NJ.com via Elite Sports NY), Smith alternated between disgruntled and motivated, with disgruntled seeming to win the internal struggle. 

SN’s Tadd Haislop wrote in June why he thought the Jets were keeping the door open for Fitzpatrick and wouldn’t commit to Smith as their starter. Sure enough, a month later it’s Fitzmagic and Geno as 1 and 2 at the start of camp.
