In Genshin Impact 3.0, players will be able to journey to the new Sumeru region. This region is divided into two main biomes, the first of which is dense rainforest. Within the rainforest, players will find the settlements of Sumeru City and Port Ormos, as well as the academic institution Akademiya. The rainforest is filled with increasingly tall trees and fungus, vines and thick foliage, and strange fauna. As for the desert area of the Sumera region, more information will be shared in future Genshin Impact announcements.

The Akademiya plays a key role in the upcoming update, particularly with regard to its history and technology. The Akademiya, under the guidance of the current Dendro Archon Kusanali, is the current governing body of the region. As Genshin Impact players know, Dendro is one of the seven Elements and was introduced in update 2.8. Dendro is key to the Sumera region, its Akademiya, and the leadership structure within it.
Two upcoming Genshin Impact playable characters are confirmed to be focused on the Dendro Element as part of the 3.0 update. These characters include the 5-star researcher and Forest Watcher Tighnari, as well as Tighnari’s 4-star pupil, Collei. Collei will also be offered as a free reward for those who complete the Graven Innocence seasonal event for the 3.0 update. Both Tighnari and Collei, as well as Zhongli, will be available in Event Wishes during the first half of the 3.0 update.
While not a Dendro character, Genshin Impact 3.0 will also be adding a new Electro support character. Her name is Dori and she’s described as an elusive Sumeru merchant. Dori will be made available in the back half of the 3.0 update, matched with Ganyu and Sangonomiya Kokomi in Event Wishes.
Genshin Impact players can expect the Sumera region, the full release of the Dendro Element, and the beginning of the new characters’ rollout starting on August 24. Fans can expect miHoYo to share more specific information for all the new Genshin Impact 3.0 content in the weeks to come.
Genshin Impact is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, and mobile devices.
