Other than this Elemental Skill system, Scaramouche also has other mechanisms that are worth noting, like his Ascension passive and how his Burst affects his Windfavored state. To ensure a correct use of Wanderer’s ability, here are some common mistakes players make when using Scaramouche in Genshin Impact.
6 Not Leveling Up His Normal Attack
Wanderer may need his Elemental Skill to properly perform in combat, but his basic attack damage scales with both his Normal Attack and Elemental Skill talents. His Skill enhances the original damage provided from his Normal Attack, which means both need to be leveled equally.
Meanwhile, Wanderer’s Elemental Burst has the lowest priority. It’s still important, but it can be leveled up after his Skill and Normal Attack are enhanced. However, if players choose to play Scaramouche as a Burst DPS instead, then his Skill and Normal Attack talents can be ignored.
5 Not Knowing How To Manage His Kuugoryoku Points
When Scaramouche uses his Elemental Skill, he will enter the Windfavored state. He’ll be hovering for a maximum of 10 seconds, and his Normal Attack damage will be enhanced. As he’s now flying, he will gain a new stamina bar called Kuugoryoku Points. This point will slowly deplete as Scaramouche stays in this state. It will also reduce even quicker if players sprint or use the jump button. Once the Kuugoryoku Points run out, Wanderer will return to the normal state.

Since players would want to maximize the duration of Wanderer’s Windfavored State, the sprint and jump button should only be used when it’s absolutely necessary. Players can also ensure Wanderer causes a Hydro Swirl when he casts his Elemental Skill to increase the Kuugoryoku Points by 20. Additionally, it’s important to note that Scaramouche’s Charged Attack will not consume any Kuugoryoku Points in the Windfavored State.
4 Not Taking Advantage Of His Self Buff
Wanderer has a fun Ascension passive that grants himself a buff depending on which Element comes in contact with his Elemental Skill upon cast. He can trigger a maximum of two buffs among these four:
Electro: When Normal and Charged Attacks hit an opponent, 0. 8 Energy will be restored. Max once every 0. 2s Hydro: Kuugoryoku Point cap increases by 20 Cryo: Crit Rate increases by 20% Pyro: ATK increases by 30%
Because of this buff, Scaramouche and Bennett became a highly favored pair in Genshin Impact. However, the rest of the bonuses should not be underestimated too. Cryo buff allows Scaramouche to play in a freeze comp with practically no Critical Rate stat (using 4pc Blizzard Strayer), Hydro bonus prolongs the duration of Wanderer’s Skill, while Electro ensures easy restoration for Scaramouche’s Energy.
If players manage to unlock Scaramouche’s fourth Genshin Impact Constellation, he can now trigger up to three buffs simultaneously, and one of the three buffs are randomly granted, which means players don’t have to include an Element to get its buff.
3 Not Knowing How Gales of Reverie Works
The other Ascension passive that Wanderer has is called Gales of Reverie. When Scaramouche hits an enemy in his Windfavored state, he may gain the Descent effect. This effect is indicated by a glowing arrow on Wanderer’s back. While the Descent buff is active, Wanderer’s next sprint will consume no Kuugoryoku Points. Additionally, he will also unleash four Wind Arrows, each dealing damage based on 35% of his ATK.

This passive grants a little damage boost, but the more important part of this feature is that players have a free sprint to use.
2 Underestimating Flat Damage Buff
Scaramouche can be played in either a Reaction team, or a mono team. In a mono team, players will not rely on Elemental Reactions to deal damage and will instead destroy the enemies with Wanderer’s raw damage. If Travelers choose to take this route, then it’s important to remember that flat DMG buff works greatly on Scaramouche.
If players make a team that consists of flat DMG buffers like Yun Jin then add units that grant Normal Attack DMG buffs like Thoma and Candace, Wanderer will deal some large damage from each of his Normal Attack hits. Faruzan also grants a flat DMG buff from her Ascension passive, which further emphasizes the importance of this type of buff.
1 Using His Elemental Burst Wrong
When Scaramouche uses his Elemental Burst, he will deal five instances of Anemo DMG in quick succession. What players need to remember is to not use Wanderer’s Burst when his Elemental Skill is active. Scaramouche’s ultimate will instantly end the Windfavored state, which is bad in most cases.
Later on, if Travelers obtain Wanderer’s second Genshin Impact Constellation, then they should cast the Burst when Kuugoryoku Points is close to zero. This will enhance Scaramouche’s Burst DMG by up to 200%.
Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
