Given the amount of content they bring, having a new region in Genshin Impact can be overwhelming. Therefore, to help players prioritize what matters, here are a few things people should do first when they arrive in Genshin Impact Sumeru.
8 Follow The Aranyaka Questline
Many puzzles in Sumeru are locked behind the Quests provided by the Aranyaka Questline in Genshin Impact. This World Quest appears to be the main one players must complete in Sumeru, and it involves the Spirit of the Forest, the Aranara. To trigger it, players must first find a human called Rana, who’s being attacked by a bunch of Fungi.
In the story, Rana will eventually get corrupted by Marana and players have to help Aranara bring her back to consciousness. To do this, Travelers need to help Aranara do a bunch of tasks. The creatures will teach players a bunch of songs in the process, and these songs are crucial to solving many puzzles in Sumeru.
Because of this, following the Aranyaka Quest chain should be among the first things players do inSumeru.
7 Do The New Archon Quests
Other than the Aranara Quests, of course, Genshin Impact Travelers should also play the new Archon Quest. This is especially crucial since the Sumeru Commission and City’s Reputation system will only unlock once players finish the two Archon Quests.
In the story, Travelers will get to meet the mysterious girl, Nahida, along with some other Sumeru characters like Tighnari, Collei, Dori, Dehya, Alhaitham, and Dori. The story will also reveal some dark truths about Sumeru, especially regarding its Sages, where it becomes clear that there’s a certain hatred from the Sages toward the Lesser Lord Kusanali.
6 Prepare A Dendro, An Electro, And A Bow Character
Many objects in Sumeru react to different Genshin Impact Elements, but the most crucial ones to have in the team are a Dendro and an Electro character. A Dendro unit is required to do things like activating Clusterleaf Cores, activating Dendro Elemental Monuments, splashing Aranara, and many more. Meanwhile, Electro is required to activate Tri-Lakshana creatures like Bouncy Mushrooms, Fungi, and Tri-Yana Seeds.

Lastly, a Bow character is crucial to aiming Dendrograna at some Genshin Impact puzzles. Without a Bow wielder in the team, solving some puzzles would be a massive hassle.
5 Finish Sumeru-Related Quests In The Chasm
The Chasm update in Genshin Impact was one of the biggest updates in the game — not only the Surface of the Chasm, but also its underground area. The entirety of the area is rather large, with many twists and turns around its environment.
The Chasm in Genshin Impact is a mysterious place, even for local residents of Liyue. The flora found beneath is even known to be similar to Sumeru’s. Other than that, there are some Sumeru-related Quests there, like the ones given by Khedive and the large tree that grants the Shriveled Seed in Genshin Impact.
By finishing three Quests from Khedive, he will grant the Travelers an Akademiya Recommendation Letter. Here are the Quests that need to be done:
Paleontological Investigation Hydrological Investigation Mycological Investigation
4 Unlock All Statue Of The Seven In Sumeru
Of course, before starting the Sumeru Quests in Genshin Impact, it’s a good idea to unlock the Statue of the Seven in the area. There are some Quest-locked statues, but when Travelers first arrive in Sumeru, they can focus on the few that are immediately available. This will unlock most of the Genshin Impact map, leaving some areas to be unlocked later.

Unlocking the Statue of the Seven is also important as players need them to turn the Genshin Impact Traveler into a Dendro Traveler. Additionally, Dendroculus can only be offered on an unlocked Statue of the Seven.
3 Don’t Get Obsessed Over Teleport Waypoints
While unlocking the Statue of the Seven is an easy business, some Teleport Waypoints in Sumeru are far trickier. The layout of Sumeru’s lands is filled with layers, and there are tons of hidden entrances to underground areas.
Some Teleport Waypoints inSumeru are hidden underground, while some others are underwater. Because of this, it’s important to not get obsessed over Teleport Waypoints. Don’t worry too much as they’ll get unlocked along with the Aranyaka Quest chains.
2 Recognize Items Worth Collecting
Players will come across many new Genshin Impact items in Sumeru. Some are considered a regional specialty and will be used for a character’s ascension, while some others are simply common materials used for creating other items. Here are some items that are not considered Sumeru’s local specialties:

Meanwhile, these are Sumeru specialties, which are more important as they’ll be used for ascending Sumeru characters:
Rukkhashava Mushrooms Padisarah Nilotpala Lotus Kalpalata Lotus
1 Try Out The Dendro Reactions
Other than map-related things, of course, one of the top things players should do in Sumeru is try out the brand new Dendro Elemental reactions in Genshin Impact. This new feature is especially important for Electro characters as they finally have a reaction that can greatly amplify their damage: the Aggravate reaction. Electro will also be an important companion for Dendro units to trigger their Spread reaction.
Additionally, players will also want to try other Dendro reactions like Bloom, Hyperbloom, and Burgeon, which will involve Hydro + Dendro, Electro, and Pyro units, respectively.
Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
