Now that Sumeru is released, HoYoverse has no choice but to release Dendro characters along with it. After all, the Dendro Archon would make an appearance real soon. With Dendro characters being released, more Dendro Elemental reactions now exist.

There are various unique mechanics for Genshin Impact travelers to get used to, so this article will thoroughly explain how each Dendro reaction works in Genshin Impact.
How Does Burning Work In Genshin Impact?
How To Trigger Burning: Dendro + Pyro Burning Damage Type: Pyro Does Burning crit? No
The Burning Elemental reaction in Genshin Impact triggers when Dendro meets Pyro. It causes the enemy to suffer from Pyro aura and receive minor damage as long as this aura persists.
The damage multiplier is 0.25x, so at level 90 with 0 Elemental Mastery, one instance of Burning DoT will deal 361 damage. This 361 will then be affected by the trigger’s Elemental Mastery bonus and the enemy’s resistance. For example, as a Hilichurl has 10% Pyro RES, a Burning reaction on a Hilichurl will deal 325 damage instead of 361.
As the enemy will maintain Pyro aura, the Burning reaction can be used to set up other reactions like Vaporize and Melt. However, make note that, if the Pyro aura is used for the aforementioned reactions, then the Burning damage will disappear.
Here’s a rough damage estimation for the Burning reaction, assuming the trigger is a level 90 character.
How Does Bloom Work In Genshin Impact?
How To Trigger Bloom: Dendro + Hydro Bloom Damage Type: Dendro Does Bloom crit? No
Bloom in Genshin Impact is triggered when Hydro and Dendro meet. This will cause some Dendro Cores to drop on the ground. These seeds will explode after around six seconds.
Note that Dendro Cores will damage the active character if players are in its AoE when it explodes. However, the damage received will be reduced significantly.

The damage for Bloom is the same as Overloaded with a 2x multiplier. So, on a Hilichurl, a level 90 character with zero Elemental Mastery will deal 2603 damage. Here’s what the base damage looks like on different Elemental Mastery levels:
How Does Hyperbloom Work In Genshin Impact?
How To Trigger Hyperbloom: Bloom + Electro Hyperbloom Damage Type: Dendro Does Hyperbloom crit? No
Hyperbloom is the second stage reaction after Bloom. To trigger Hyperbloom, Genshin Impact players need to use Electro on generated Dendro Cores. This will cause the seed to fly toward the enemy, dealing single-target Dendro DMG.
Hyperbloom has a 3x multiplier, which means it deals higher damage than Bloom.
How Does Burgeon Work In Genshin Impact?
How To Trigger Burgeon: Bloom + Pyro Burgeon Damage Type: Dendro Does Burgeon crit? No
Similar to Hyperbloom, Burgeon in Genshin Impact is also a second stage reaction after Bloom. This time, players need to use Pyro on the Dendro Cores. Doing so will cause the seeds to explode, dealing AoE Dendro DMG. Burgeon also has a 3x multiplier, so it deals the same damage as Hyperbloom.
How Does Quicken Work In Genshin Impact?
How To Trigger Quicken: Dendro + Electro Quicken Damage Type: None Does Quicken crit? No. Quicken does not deal any damage in Genshin Impact.
Unlike the rest of the Dendro Elemental reactions, Quicken in Genshin Impact does not deal damage. Instead, this debuff is the first stage for a Dendro + Electro reaction.
The debuff allows players to trigger Aggravate and Spread for around 8 seconds without having to reapply Electro or Dendro in the process.

Note that the Quicken reaction will be removed upon contact with Hydro or Pyro, but it’s unaffected by Cryo, Anemo, or Geo. Hydro may leave a tiny space for Quicken to trigger, while Pyro just disrupts it completely.
How Does Aggravate Work In Genshin Impact?
How To Trigger Aggravate: Quicken + Electro Aggravate Damage Type: Electro Does Aggravate crit? Yes
After triggering Quicken, players can then trigger Aggravate or Spread. Aggravate in Genshin Impact is triggered by Electro, and unlike the other Dendro reactions, both Aggravate and Spread can crit.
However, unlike Vaporize and Melt, which simply amplify a damage type, Aggravate and Spread have a more complicated system. These Dendro reactions add a flat DMG bonus to a character’s attack, similar to Yun Jin and Shenhe’s buffs in Genshin Impact.
So for example, let’s say a level 90 Yae Miko with R1 Kagura’s Verity has the following stats:
1900 ATK 100 Elemental Mastery 200% Critical Damage 58. 6% Electro DMG Bonus Talent level 8
Normally, Yae Miko’s Skill will deal 8154 Electro DMG on a level 90 Hilichurl. But with Aggravate reaction, she will deal 14671 instead. So the 100 EM grants around 6500 bonus DMG (on a critical hit).
But, note that the Electro application still has Internal Cooldown, so not every Skill hit will trigger Aggravate.
How Does Spread Work In Genshin Impact?
How To Trigger Spread: Quicken + Dendro Spread Damage Type: Dendro Does Spread crit? Yes
Meanwhile, Spread in Genshin Impact occurs when Dendro meets an enemy with the Quicken debuff. The mechanic is similar to Aggravate, but Spread has a higher multiplier of 1.25x instead of 1.15x.
Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
