The Oni are a race in Teyvat’s region of Inazuma, and it’s considered a supernatural creature, similar to Tengu and Kitsune. Tengu blood can be seen in Kujou Sara, and Kitsune lineage flows in Yae Miko’s veins. Meanwhile, Arataki Itto is an Oni. This is why Itto’s Story Quest in Genshin Impact heavily revolves around this race, and offers players a chance to learn more about both him and his people.

Starting The Quest
To start Arataki Itto’s Story Quest in Genshin Impact, players have to speak to Katheryne. The receptionist will say that the Tenryou Commission is hunting an Oni called Arataki Itto. The officials have been trying to arrest him for stealing and assaults.
To get a clue of where to start looking, Traveler will ask three people in Inazuma City: Furuya Noboru, Ogura Mio, and Uesugi. Each says different things, but they all agree that Itto is somewhat unstable. As they don’t get many clues, the Protagonist decides to ask Sango instead.

After approaching the detective, Sango will recount the tale of crimson and blue Oni. Then, she tells the players to find Itto in Yashiori Island. To assist the arrest, Sango hands players some beans, an item all Oni are allergic to.
Yashiori Island
Once players arrive in Yashiori Island, they have to find Arataki Itto using Elemental Sight. A track of golden footprints will be visible once they activate this ability. After finding Itto, the Traveler must ambush him by throwing the beans. The Oni will immediately collapse, unable to handle the substance.
As Itto is about to leave with the player, suddenly a little boy called Daisuke and Granny Oni will arrive. As Itto has already promised the boy for a beetle fight, he asks the Traveler to let him do this before surrendering to the Shogunate.
Of course, for a beetle fight, the Oni will need to have the creature. Therefore, he brings players around to find an Onikabuto. Luckily, after a little walk, Itto finds a little Onikabuto. He boasts about his discovery, just to be crushed by Paimon’s huge find. Afterward, go back to Daisuke and enjoy a small cutscene of the beetle fight.

Daisuke may be young, but he’s not stupid. After the game, he quickly calls out on the Traveler for wanting to arrest Itto. The boy then states that the Oni is a good person, and doesn’t deserve to be captured. Hearing that, Itto gives up and decides to tell the truth. He claims that the blue Oni faction still exists, and they’re the ones who have been stealing. Therefore, Itto decides to admit to the crime, just to cover up for the blue Oni. He’s determined to find them before surrendering to the army.
To get some clues of their whereabouts, Itto takes players to Masato, a victim of a recent robbery. The victim says that the bandits are likely to rendezvous in Tatarasuna.
Confronting The Bandits
Itto says that if the ronin are going to Tatarasuna, they’re bound to meet if players try to intercept at Nazuchi Beach. After a while, the bad guys show up, and players will have the chance to play Arataki Itto against the bandits. Once the ronin are taken care of, the player will finally meet the blue Oni, Takuya. He’ll call out on Itto for only fooling around in his life and never contributing anything to the society, while the blue Oni had to live in exile, barely able to survive.
Takuya will speak for a while, long enough for the Tenryou Commission to catch up to the players. The blue Oni manages to escape, but players will be surrounded by the Shogunate army. As Itto doesn’t want to get Traveler in trouble, he decides to fight them solo.
After escaping the army, players eventually will stumble upon a secret hideout.
All Chests In Arataki Itto’s Story Quest Domain
There are a total of seven chests in Arataki Itto’s Story Quest domain. To get them all, players have to pay close attention to the available levers.
For the first Genshin Impact Common Chest, walk up the bridge and head left after activating the first lever.
Next, go back to the bridge and find a room on the other side. Players can glide to reach there. For the red seal to open, there are several Nobushi that have to be defeated.
Once the bandits are defeated, a door will open to the next room. Turn left and destroy the Folding Screen. The furniture blocks access to a ladder, which leads to another Common Chest.
Next, find the way to the second lever and pull it. This will open access to the second floor of the hideout.
As players enter the second floor, there will be another Folding Screen by the entrance. Destroy it to reveal a Common Chest.
Go to the other side of the room where some enemies gather. Beat them all to open the locked Precious Chest. There will also be a Common Chest nearby.
The last Exquisite Chest is a little tricky, so follow the steps slowly. It’s important to note that players have to get this Chest before beating the final room as the domain will end once they did. To get the chest, first, find and activate the third lever. This mechanism will pull the bridge up, opening the road to the third floor.
Now, glide down to where the other two levers are. Pull the first, then the second lever.
Now, go back to where the third lever is (use the ladder from previous rooms), and follow the bridge to the roof. Players have to slightly jump to access the Exquisite Chest.
To end the quest, go back to the second lever and activate it. Then, go back to the third lever and follow the stairs. Now, it should lead to the final room instead of the roof. There, many ronin awaits, and players have to defeat them all.
Once the enemies are eradicated, a cutscene will start and players will get to watch Arataki Itto heroically saving the blue Oni. Unfortunately, while everyone made it out of the hideout, the two Oni are arrested by the Shogunate. Players must then report to Granny Oni to end the quest.
Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
