However, despite the goddess’ insistence on doing things independently, even she must rely on her teammates for players to utilize her to her full potential. That said, Raiden Shogun has been one of the most unique characters in Genshin Impact so far. As such, some players may find difficulty choosing the best team composition for her. The best characters to pair her with Raiden Shogun all depend on her role, so this guide will give players a variety of top picks for teams.

Updated December 27, 2022, by Nahda Nabiilah: With Raiden Shogun banner rerun in Genshin Impact 3.3, players would want to pair Ei with the best possible characters. Of course, Genshin Impact is continuously growing and Raiden rerun banners will always have new additions that may match her playstyle. After the Sumeru region release, Dendro was introduced as the seventh element and more units now qualify to match well with the Electro Archon. For that, Raiden Shogun’s most optimal team will change to fit more into the current meta and more pairs will be added to enhance her gameplay.
Overview
Generally speaking, the Raiden Shogun can be used in a multitude of different ways, making her one of the most versatile characters currently in Genshin Impact. She can be used in either DPS or support positions, with a specialty in being a Battery.
To simplify matters, the Raiden Shogun can be divided into two general niches, based on different unique capabilities that she has: DPS and Enabling. Depending on which role she plays, she synergizes better with different teammates.
For DPS
Raiden Shogun grew to become the Archon that she is based on her strength and will, and this same strength shows in her playstyle. She’s easiest to build as a sub-DPS. In this position, players should focus on upgrading the Raiden Shogun’s elemental burst, as these will be the main sources of her damage capabilities. Pair the Raiden Shogun with these characters when she fulfills the role of the team’s DPS.
Bennett
Bennett is one of the best supports in Genshin Impact with his top-tier buffing ability. The adventurer will help the Archon deal higher damage with his attack buff.
Raiden Shogun will be taking damage from enemies without getting staggered thanks to her resistance to interruption, which can make it hard to notice that she’s been hit badly. Thankfully, Bennett’s healing AoE will ensure the Archon stays alive when she’s wielding the Musou Isshin.
Xingqiu
In general, Xingqiu makes for convenient support. He offers an automated skill that works whenever the player uses an attack, his rain blades, which can be transferred to other characters. When transferred to the Raiden Shogun, these can make for easy electro-charged reactions to deal damage on enemies. This creates a nice synergy, especially when combined with the Raiden Shogun’s elemental burst.
Kujou Sara
Similar to Bennett, Kujou Sara also provides an attack buff. However, hers is far less flexible. For Sara to grant her bonus, she needs to use her elemental skill, then players must quickly swap to the character they want to buff. This ability only boosts one character at a time and the duration is low, lasting only six seconds at its baseline.

Luckily, Kujou Sara makes up for this weakness with her Genshin Impact Constellations. With two enhancements, she can easily grant 100% buff uptime, while at C6, Kujou Sara becomes the best buffer for Electro characters. Once she has full Constellations, the Tengu Warrior will also increase Electro Crit damage by 60% (in addition to the attack buff), making her a great support for DPS Raiden Shogun.
Nahida
The Dendro Archon is a powerful sub-DPS that pair perfectly with the Electro Archon. Of course, since Electro and Dendro trigger some of the best reactions in Genshin Impact, it’s only fair that their Archons are going to be besties. Raiden can count on Nahida’s continuous Dendro applications to keep triggering quicken, spread, and aggravate.
Kazuha
Kazuha is currently one of the best supports in Genshin Impact. He can be paired with practically any character that relies on aura elemental damage (Cryo, Hydro, Pyro, or Electro). When he triggers swirl, the Samurai will increase the whole party’s elemental damage according to the aura he swirled.
When equipped with four Viridescent Venerer, Kazuha will also reduce the enemy’s elemental resistance. Considering the fact that Raiden Shogun highly relies on her Electro sword to deal damage, Kazuha can greatly boost the Archon’s DPS with his abilities.
Mona
Mondstadt’s resident astrologer, Mona was Genshin Impact’s original five-star support character. In a Raiden Shogun team composition, Mona’s elemental skill creates a phantom that applies Hydro status to nearby opponents. Using the Raiden Shogun’s Electro abilities, this can mean havoc on a crowd warfare front. In addition, Mona’s elemental burst greatly enhances Raiden’s DMG after. This makes Raiden Shogun’s assaults on foes more efficient.
Xiangling
In more ways than one, Xiangling stands out from the rest of Genshin Impact free characters. She offers both support abilities and DPS potential, and for the Raiden Shogun, the latter will prove incredibly beneficial. Keep in mind, Pyro characters like Xiangling needs to fit in Raiden’s National team in order to match her gameplay. Or else, the overload reactions will keep getting enemies out of the Electro Archon’s reach.

Xiangling’s support potential is split between two components: her elemental skill and burst. For her burst, she releases a ring of Pyro blades, allowing the Raiden Shogun to devastate the field. The chaos only increases with the National team’s help, enabling the Raiden Shogun to create destruction wherever she goes.
For Enabling
A unique component of the Raiden Shogun’s elemental skill is the fact that it also makes for a lighting strike when a character hits the enemy. This will apply Electro to enemies, regardless of the character that the player is using at that moment. This makes for quick and easy Electro-based reactions, which can do high damage to enemies. When Raiden Shogun works alongside the following characters, her potential for Electro enabling shines.
Tighnari
As a Dendro hard-hitter in Genshin Impact, Tighnari needs an Electro support to enable his High DMG. To perfectly set the field ready for him, all players must do is initiate Raiden’s elemental skill. That is enough for Tighnari to go berserk with his charged attacks. This synergy is only amplified when Tighnari’s stacks run out and Raiden takes the field to unleash her Musou Isshin against the poor quickened enemies.
Eula
As a Physical character in Genshin Impact, Eula performs a lot better with superconduct reactions on the field. Because she is a Cryo character, she only needs an Electro unit to trigger this reaction. Raiden Shogun’s off-field Electro application is perfect for this job.

Furthermore, as Eula can deal ridiculously high numbers with her Elemental burst, it’s important for her to ensure its availability. Fortunately, the Electro Archon can assist the Spindrift Knight in restoring her Energy. Raiden Shogun’s elemental burst buff will also further boost Eula’s already huge damage. The synergy between the two easily makes them one of the best pairs in Genshin Impact when Raiden Shogun enables Eula’s abilities and reactions.
Yanfei
Generally speaking, most catalyst users in Genshin Impact will work well with the Raiden Shogun because their normal attacks apply elemental status. For example, Yanfei can be an economical choice. Since her Pyro attacks are AoE and somewhat automatically will hit enemies, players don’t need to worry about the overload reaction. Players can match Yanfei and Raiden to perform a niche synergy together.
Dendro MC
Surprisingly, the Dendro Traveler can be useful in different roles in the new meta. Although, of course, the lack of Dendro characters may be playing a big role in their current popularity. Only time will tell if the Dendro MC will keep going strong, or fall behind other characters like in the previous three Visions.
Yoimiya
It can be difficult to place Yoimiya in a normal Genshin Impact team composition, based on how differently she works from other bow users. However, if the player uses Raiden Shogun as an enabler via her skill, Yoimiya has an excellent synergy working with the Raiden Shogun.

Using her elemental skill, Yoimiya helps the player set up some of the easiest overload reactions in the game. In the end, when her burst is used, the player can switch to the Raiden Shogun for some optimized individual fighting.
Tartaglia
The amount of AoE DMG generated from Childe and Raiden can be insane. Both characters excel in crowd warfare, triggering electro-charged alongside their devastating attacks and skills. In short, the likes of Raiden and Beidou are always a perfect match for Tartaglia’s strong Hydro application.
Most Optimal Team: Raiden Shogun + Xiangling + Xingqiu + Bennett
The most popular team comp for Raiden Shogun in Genshin Impact is the Rational Team. Instead of Chongyun from the National Team, Raiden Shogun will take his place. Start the rotation with Bennett, Xiangling, then Xingqiu. Afterward, bring Raiden Shogun out and wreak havoc on the battlefield.
Usually, Xiangling and Xingqiu would struggle with regaining their energy, but thanks to Raiden Shogun’s top-tier energy regeneration, no one in the party will suffer from a lack of energy. This also allows both Xiangling and Xingqiu to focus more on damage dealing instead of investing in energy recharge.
Most Optimal Team: Raiden Shogun + Tighnari + Nahida + C6 Diona
Starting with Nahida’s elemental skill to mark all enemies will help Raiden follow up with elemental skill as well. That will create a quickened environment among most enemies, if not all. Nahida will also greatly enhance the team’s elemental mastery when she casts her elemental burst.
C6 Diona will shield and use her elemental burst to create a healing area that boosts Tighnari’s elemental mastery by a whopping 200. All that preparation will insanely buff Tighnari’s next few seconds on the field. This team has everything, from good support to an incredible DMG output.
