Genesis Crystals
Genesis Crystals are described in Genshin Impact as “An energy crystal from the very origin of the universe. Formed from within nothingness out of pure potential and hope, it contains enough energy to create a newborn star.” It is an in-game currency that can be purchased through the Shop menu. This currency can only be purchased with real money and cannot be found anywhere in the game itself. Genesis Crystal purchases are the main microtransaction that can be thanked for Genshin Impact reaching financial milestones like making $400 million USD in two months.

Purchasing Genesis Crystals
Genesis Crystals make up the majority of the microtransaction system in Genshin Impact. While prices vary depending on a player’s country’s currency, the USD exchange for Genesis Crystals is very straightforward, and is listed out inside the shops in game.
60 Genesis Crystals - $0. 99 USD 300 Genesis Crystals - $4. 99 USD 980 Genesis Crystals - $14. 99 USD 1,980 Genesis Crystals - $29. 99 USD 3,280 Genesis Crystals - $49. 99 USD 6,480 Genesis Crystals - $99. 99 USD
These prices also don’t include some first-time buyer specials and other possible holiday deals on premium currencies in Genshin Impact. This also doesn’t include the Blessing of the Welkin Moon special, which is currently available for all players, and can be purchased several times. The Welkin Moon special comes with both Primogems and Genesis Crystals that a given to the player over 30 days.
Using Genesis Crystals
The most useful thing that Genesis Crystals can be traded for in the game is Primogems. They trade at a one-to-one basis for Primogems, and that way players can fill in any missing Primogems to get to the next Intertwined Fate or Acquaint Fate wish. However, Genesis Crystals can also be used for buying leveling items, like Enchantment Ores, Mora, Hero’s Wits, and more. These are purchased in the Gift Shop as bundles: the Starter’s Supply Bundle or the Wayfarer’s Supply Bundle. The leveling items cannot be purchased individually at this time.
In the future, there may also be a way to purchase a monthly Resin pass for Genshin Impact with either real money or Genesis Crystals, but that rumored system has not yet been implemented. Hopefully, players will get more information on how much it will cost and whether or not it’s coming soon from miHoYo.
Genshin Impact is available for mobile, PC, and PS4, and is in development for the Switch.
