There are a couple of prerequisites for gaining access to the Hangout Events. Only players who have reached Adventure Rank 26 and completed the Archon Quest “Prologue: Act III - Song of the Dragon and Freedom” are eligible. Furthermore, unlocking a Hangout Event requires the use of two Story Keys, which can take a bit of a time investment to obtain. Players obtain one Story Key for every eight Daily Commissions they complete. Since only four Daily Commissions are available each day, it can take four days to gain access to a new Hangout Event.

As a reminder, Hangout Events are not temporary limited-time additions to Genshin Impact. Players needn’t feel rushed about farming up Story Keys to complete these quests as soon as possible. The current number of Story Keys that a player possesses can be viewed by opening the Quest menu, and then toggling to the “Unlocking Quests” sub-menu. From there, players can tab between “Story Quests” and the new “Hangout Events.” It should be noted that a player can only hold a maximum of three Story Keys at a time, so it would be wise to use them to unlock a quest whenever possible before completing more Daily Commissions.
The actual content of the Hangout Events involves interacting with characters in a series of visual-novel style encounters. Players will learn more about each character’s personality and their daily lives, while also making dialogue choices that affect the outcome of the Event. Each Event has five different endings. Since Events can be repeated, it’s easy to view every ending.
And players should do so, as there will be a reward of Primogems or other items each time a new ending is reached. Achieving every ending of every Hangout Event introduced in Version 1.4 would yield a grand total of 240 Primogems for use in obtaining new playable Genshin Impact characters, and an assortment of ascension and level-up materials.
From Barbara’s “Wellspring of Healing” storyline to Bennett’s “Fantastic Voyage,” there are plenty of fun adventures to take on in the Hangout Events quest-type. That’s not all there is to look forward to, either. Version 1.4 introduces the Windblume Festival, the brand-new character Rosaria, additional quests for the main storyline, and more. Fans never seem to run out of things to do in this massive open-world adventure.
Genshin Impact is available for Mobile, PC, and PS4, with PS5 and Switch versions in development.
