The Hide and Seek event is currently live and runs until May 24th, giving players ample time to collect the generous amount of rewards on offer. Players will find a rewards breakdown from the mode in their event tab, but will only be able to enter the mode by speaking to Gygax in the North of Mondstadt city and can be identified by the cat icon on the map.

In a match of Hide and Seek there is a maximum of four players, with one player assuming the role of the hunter and the remain three players assuming the role of rebels. As expected, the hunter’s objective is to find the three rebels within the time limit, and the rebel’s objective is to remain hidden until the timer expires.
As a hunter, players have 3 key abilities that can be utilized. The primary ability that the hunters possess is “capture,” which allows players to send an AOE pulse around their location that will capture any rebels if detected.
Hunters also have the choice between two attack and three burst abilities which are configured via the event tab menu. While these abilities are entirely up to players’ preference, the Sensor Aura attack skill, and the Imprisoning Curse burst ability appear to be the most useful.
As a rebel, players are also given three abilities to utilize throughout the match. Their primary ability is the Disguise skill which allows them to transform into a random object to blend into their surroundings.
Additionally, rebels have the choice between two attack abilities- Lay Bait- which sets a decoy object, and Transparency- which grants the player brief invisibility. Of the two abilities, players will want to opt for Transparency as Lay Bait’s ability uses are quite limited.
The Rebel’s burst ability- Starstep- allows their movement speed to be greatly increased for a 30-second duration. When utilized with Transparency, this ability can easily prevent capture when spotted by the hunter.
In terms of character selection, there are several heroes that have clear advantages in the Hide and Seek event. Xiao, Razor, and Kaeya each have an ability that reduces stamina consumption when sprinting, making them an ideal choice for the mode. Additionally, Mona’s sprint ability -which transforms her into a moving puddle- is extremely useful.
There are a total of five stages in the mode that span locations throughout Mondstadt, Liyue, and Dragonspine. The stage that is selected for the match is entirely random, however, players will only be able to play stages that they have unlocked the respective Statue of the Seven for.
After finishing the match, players will be awarded a set number of Windtrace Coins that vary depending on the match’s outcome and player’s performance. Windtrace Coins are then used to claim the various primogem, mora and heroes wit lots that are available through the event shop.
Players should note that there is a cap to the amount of Windtrace Coins players can collect. However, the cap for the amount of Windtrace Coins players can possess increases each day of the event. As a result, like most events in Genshin Impact, players won’t be able to grind out all of the events rewards in a single play session.
Genshin Impact is available for Mobile, PC, and PS4, and PS5 with a Switch version in development.
