To get right to it, while players may initially think that this puzzle has something to do with the touch the sword hilt puzzles in Genshin Impact, which can be found scattered across Inazuma, that is actually not the case. Indeed, players need not do anything with the swords to get the Higi Village chest open, but they will need to locate a particular creature in the nearby environs. More specifically, a Tanuki will continually disappear and reappear in the tall grass that is around the chest, and fans must chase it down several times.

Ultimately, this pursuit will cause the Tanuki to appear right next to the chest of interest, and the seal that is around the cache will dissipate when that occurs. At that point, players are free to open the Common Chest and claim the loot that is inside. Amidst that loot will be things like Mora and Primogems, which are sure to appreciated by fans that are working to stockpile those currencies in Genshin Impact.
To provide just a bit more clarity, a Tanuki is a racoon-like animal, and the one connected to the Higi Villlage Sword Chest has yellow music notes above its head. While players that have already completed Genshin Impact’s Hayashi of Tanuki in the Forest quest will be quite familiar with these creatures, those that have not may be slightly confused about exactly what they should be looking for. If a player is still uncertain about the Tanuki that they need to track down, the video that is featured above provides a solid visual reference.
Notably, this is just one of many chests that can be found across Inazuma, and a number of the other caches also require players to solve a puzzle or mystery. For example, there is a Luxurious Chest on an unmarked island south of Fort Mumei that fans can only access after they have found all of the Lost Texts in Genshin Impact. There are also several buried chests for players to dig up, and tracking all of those down can take quite a bit of time.
Genshin Impact is available for Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5, with a Switch version in development.
