Act 3 of the Albedo event just opened up, and already some players are stuck. This time around, travelers need to help Albedo fend off some assailants, Fatui agents after the Festering Desire. It’s well known that the Fatui are collecting the Gnoses of Genshin Impact’s Archons, and the Festering Desire has a direct connection to a being of similar power.

Though the quest is part of Act 3 of The Chalk Prince and the Dragon, and the objective itself (“Defeat the Assailants”) is simple, but actually doing it turns out to be a lot harder than it sounds. There are only three enemies, but they are each high ranking Fatui Legionnaires. Players will need to deal with a Hydrogunner, Cryogunner, and an Anemoboxer all at once, a deadly combination.
For the most part, the Anemoboxer is a non-threat, as though he can deal heavy damage, he can be killed easily. The key to winning this fight is to take out the Hydrogunner as quickly as possible. This is the large Hydro-aligned enemy with the gun that shoots water, as he is able to heal the Cryogunner if players leave him alive. If the Hydrogunner survives long enough to put up his Hydro shield, players will want to make use of Electro to take it down. After this, the Cryogunner will have no doubt already put up his Cryo shield, meaning players will need to break through it if they want to deal any real damage.
For Cryo shields, the best element to use is Pyro. This means Genshin Impact’s Pyro characters like Klee, Diluc, and Bennett will be instrumental to this fight. Alternatively, if players can find a nearby Crimson Quartz, having one of those when attacking will inflict a heavy amount of Pyro damage as well. Other elements will work to a lesser degree, but pyro is definitely the answer for these baddies. It also helps to use a character that can create shields to negate the heavy damage that will be incoming from the two Cryogunners, so Noelle or Zhongli are also a great pick.
Ultimately, players can prepare as much as they like, but it will probably end up being a slugfest. Be sure to bring healing food if the enemies are dealing too much damage, and it may even be a good idea to boost attack before going in. This is a tough fight, but players have to beat it if they want to unlock Warm Essence and another way to refine the Festering Desire past level 2.
Genshin Impact is available now on Mobile, PC, and PS4, and later on Switch.
