Reaching Genshin Impact’s spooky new region and navigating it successfully may require some investigation, however, as attempting to enter it by normal means leads to travelers being turned around in the fog and thrown back to their entry point. A Particularly Particular Author - The Quest that Opens Tsurumi Island
Sailing straight to Tsurumi Island after installing the update doesn’t get players very far, since going much further than the Statue of the Seven will lead to them running right into the fog and getting turned around. Instead, players wishing to explore the island should seek out Katherine at the Inazuma Adventurer’s Guild to find the quest “A Particularly Particular Author.” This quest only becomes available after the Quest series “Seirai Stormchasers” has been completed, which takes the players to Seirai Island.
This quest has the Traveller and Paimon aiding an Author named “Sumida” with her newest work, and she needs an authentic instrument from the island known as a “Maushiro.” After she’s talked their ears off for a while, the author gives them a letter to take to a man over in Ritou, named “Kama.” Once they’ve handed over the letter, he’ll sail them to Tsumuri Island, near the Statue of the Seven, and give them a very useful piece of advice. Taking his advice and beginning the journey by stepping through the stone gate up ahead will stop the Traveller from getting lost immediately, and lead them to a young boy named Ruu.

Despite no one living on the Island for many years according to what the Traveller and Paimon have heard, Ruu is busily preparing for a ceremony and asks them for their help. This introduces players to the main way of removing the fog in this zone, Perches.
Navigating and Removing the Fog
In order to remove fog from an area, players will need to touch a Perch tree. Doing this releases three feathers into the surrounding area, that must be sought out and returned to the tree in order to dispel the heavy fog. This must be done in Four different areas, which will be indicated by heavy fog around them on the map. These areas are:
The Perch Tree Ruu directs players to. The Perch Tree in Shirikoro Peak. The Perch Tree at Chirai Shrine. The Perch Tree in Autake Plains.
Clearing these four Perch Trees is necessary to navigate the Island more easily.
Heavy fog can also be navigated without getting turned around if players activate “Stormstones” found throughout the area. An active Stormstone will prevent the player from being transported back to where they entered the heavy fog while they remain close to it, allowing them to forge ahead through the fog.
