While most world quests in Genshin Impact can be skipped, the “Tatara Tales” quest is essential, as it grants players access to the Tatarasuna region. Players should also note that there are two main parts to the quest, with the first having the player observe the Mikage furnace, and the second having players destroy the barrier surrounding it. This guide will outline how to complete the observation portion of the questline which has proven to be confusing for many players.

To start the quest, teleport to the Kujou Encampment waypoint and speak to both Toranosuke and Miyuki after overhearing their conversation. Miyuki will then send the player to speak with Xavier, who oversees the Mikage Furnace.
Players will find Xavier next to the Tatarasuna waypoint. After speaking with Xavier, the Traveller will be tasked with “observing” three points on the Tatarasuna barrier in order to uncover the source of the problems with the Mikage Furnace.
At the observation point to the north, players will find a group of Fatui skirmishers. Defeat the enemies and interact with the glowing yellow point on the ground next to the barrier in order to progress through the quest.
At the southern observation point, players will find that they are unable to investigate the barrier due to an electro bubble in their way. To break through the bubble, head southeast along the shore and summon the Electrogranum nearby. With the Electrogranum, run back towards the electro bubble and walk through it before interacting with the observation point.
The third and final observation point is easily the most confusing. At the northeastern observation point, players will find that there is no marker to observe on the ground as in the previous two. To make the observation point appear, players must interact with the Electro-Seelie next to the barrier.
After interacting with the Electro-Seelie, use the Electrogranum nearby to boost into the air and follow the Seelie. Once players have touched the Electro-Seelie a second time, the observation point will appear on the ground in front of the barrier.
Once all three points have been successfully observed, head back to Xavier in order to complete the first part of the world quest.
