Using a feature called the Serenitea Pot, Genshin Impact’s housing system adds another level of individuality to the world of Teyvat, as well as making a customized meeting location for co-op mode. But in order to unlock housing, players will have to complete a few steps first.

Updated December 29, 2021, by Scott Vengel: There has been a lot of buzz in the Genshin Impact community over the last few days, with the release of the game’s second iteration of the fan-favorite Lantern Rite festival. This time around, banners will feature a new Geo user, Yun Jin, as well as the cold Cryo user, Shenhe. As such, with the popularity of the upcoming update, even more people are going to be coming back to the game’s housing feature. In order to best assist players that have yet to unlock the housing feature in Genshin Impact, this article has been updated to add more information.

Housing on Teyvat

In the dangerous world of Genshin Impact’s Teyvat, its nice to have a safe and comfortable home to come back to after a hard day of adventuring. Creating a home in-game isn’t as easy as logging on, however; rather, players will need a few things to get started. First, players need to be Adventure Rank 35 before they can even think about unlocking the Serenitea Pot housing feature.

While those who have been playing this free RPG since the beginning most likely hit Adventure Rank 35 a long time ago, there may be newer players who need to boost their Genshin Impact Adventure Rank before they can start picking out curtains. Once players hit this rank, they can continue on to the next step.

Completing the Quest

Next, players will need to complete Archon Quest, Chapter I Act III: A New Star Approaches. This quest will unlock both the new Serenitea Pot area as well as housing. Without the Serenitea Pot, players will not be able to select the realm they wish to build their home in, nor select housing crafting projects from Tubby to make their home. Speaking to Tubby will allow players to build furniture, housing items, materials, and build the Trust Level needed to unlock blueprints for more furniture and house designs.

Players will have the choice of four different Serenitea Pot Realm Layouts: Floating Abode, Emerald Peak, Cool Isle, and Silken Courtyard. These layouts are purely aesthetic, with the first two modeled on Liyue’s domains and mountain ranges. Cool Isle based on the temporary region of the Golden Apple Archipelago, while the final layout resembles Inazuma. Players will be able to build in up to three different layouts at a time, with the maximum increasing at trust ranks 8 and 10.

Gathering Materials

The last step after unlocking housing is to begin collecting items to help build a dream home. Players will need to collect a variety of woods, dyes, fabrics, and more to make the blank canvas of their new house a home in Genshin Impact. Players will also need to collect Blueprints, which can be obtained through several different channels. The Trust System unlocks several of the Blueprints with Tubby, but players will also need Realm Currency to pay for additional blueprints and furniture items.

Gathering materials can be a fairly time-consuming process for many players, especially when it comes to the massive amounts of wood needed to build in the Serenitea Pot. There are currently 11 types of wood in Genshin Impact, with some being easier to collect than others. In order to collect wood, players simply need to hit each tree with a sword, claymore, or polearm user. The damage must be physical rather than elemental in order for the hit to register. Once chopped down, each tree will give the player a maximum of three pieces of wood.

There are two vendors that sell Blueprints for Mora. The first vendor is Goth, who is located near the windmills in Mondstadt. The second is Master Lu, who is located in the Qingce Village during the day. In addition, Blueprints can be purchased in the Realm Depot, as well as in various chests around the world of Teyvat (especially on Inazuma’s Tsurumi Island.)

Once players have gathered materials, completed the quests, gathered blueprints, and unlocked the Serenitea Pot, they are ready to create a home of their own. Happy building!

Genshin Impact is out now for mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5.
