Still, some players opt to have the queen of fireworks by their side, and for that, Yoimiya havers should know what are the common mistakes players make when using her.

7 Not Understanding Her Playstyle

As a Genshin Impact bow user, Yoimiya can be mistaken to be another Ganyu or a better Amber, which both depend on their Charged Attacks to deal damage. Yoimiya, on the other hand, counts on her Normal Attacks to maximize her damage.

Operating her in any other way will result in a huge loss of DPS. It is also important to note that her Elemental Burst is not worth it and should not be constantly cast. Instead, players need to make sure that Yoimiya never runs out of energy to keep proccing Shimenawa’s passive.

6 Using Yoimiya Against Groups Of Enemies

As a unit who counts on her Normal Attacks, Yoimiya suffers against multiple enemies since she needs to take them down one by one. Players should make sure to use her against bosses or a low amount of enemies. Even if Yoimiya was paired with Genshin Impact characters like Venti or Kazuha who are able to collect all monsters in one place, she still won’t be able to AoE hit them and has to deal with them one at a time.

Having said that, Yoimiya is not completely useless against multiple enemies, instead, her range grants her a little advantage over other Melee DPS units that have to move to each target location, but certainly not enough to make up for her lack of AoE.

5 Pairing Yoimiya With The Wrong Units

Suffering from a couple of setbacks, Yoimiya’s team should be made of characters that compensate and enhance her playstyle. As a starter, Yoimiya needs buffers that keep her Normal Attacks performing as high as possible. Bennett and Yun Jin are the perfect Genshin Impact candidates to take that role.

Bennett’s buff is known to be amazing, plus, both Yoimiya, and he can activate the Pyro Resonance to increase the team’s ATK by 25%. Meanwhile, Yun Jin offers a consistent buff that doesn’t force Yoimiya to stand in a circle. Having one of them in Yoimiya’s team composition is great, but having both can really make a difference in her damage.

4 Building Yoimiya With The Wrong Artifacts

As a Pyro unit, some players might think the best artifacts for Yoimiya are the 4-Crimson Witch of Flames. While it’s true to some degree, some Genshin Impact Artifacts perform better than Crimson because of Yoimiya’s kit. The best set that all players should opt to have on their Yoimiya is 4-Shimenawa’s Reminiscence for its 50% damage increase on her Normal Attacks. It is extremely beneficial, especially for the fact that Yoimiya’s Burst isn’t that strong, so sacrificing her Burst isn’t a big price to pay for 50% more damage.

There are some cases where her Burst can perform better than Shimenawa’s buff, though. So for this scenario, a mix of +18% ATK artifact and 2-Crimson Witch of Flames is a great middle ground.

3 Giving Yoimiya The Wrong Bow

Same as her Artifacts, bows can make a big difference for Yoimiya. She needs a weapon that enhances her Normal Attacks damage since that’s where her numbers are at. So a bow like Rust, though it’s a niche, is one of her best 4-star bows. While her best-in-slot Genshin Impact weapon is Thundering Pulse.

A F2P bow, Hamayumi, is also a decent choice, but its passive is counterintuitive with Shimenawa’s Reminiscence, so make sure to only use this weapon if Yoimiya’s artifact won’t nullify its passive effect.

2 Not Building Her Team To Trigger Elemental Reactions

There are some Genshin Impact characters like Ningguang who can drive the entire DPS process on their own without needing any single reaction made, that’s not the case with Yoimiya, however. When Yoimiya goes into her long cooldown, her damage drops significantly, and swapping her out becomes a priority. Add to that, Yoimiya is a Pyro unit that can benefit from the two most powerful Elemental reactions in Genshin Impact, Melt, and Vaporize.

For that, players have to make the most of what Yoimiya can offer in the span of the few seconds she goes into her Niwabi Enshou state. Pairing her with consistent applicators that can deal a ton of damage while enabling or triggering reactions with her is the best way to spend those seconds, such as Xingqiu, Beidou, or Fischl.

1 Swapping Her Out During Her Skill Duration

In the era of fast rotations and quick swapping, some characters can lose so much when swapped out. Units such as Xiao, Razor, Hu Tao, or even Yoimiya lose their current state when they leave the field and that will put players in a very hard situation since these characters will lose their damage drive while still being at the start of their cooldown.

For that, players have to make sure Yoimiya’s Genshin Impact team has set everything ready for her to stay on the field for the next few seconds.

Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
