As a selfish DPS, there are many things players should keep in mind when playing Arataki Itto in Genshin Impact. Among the attempts, here are some of the most common mistakes Travelers may make.
7 Not Using Itto’s Charged Attack
Arataki Itto has a special Charged Attack in Genshin Impact. His Normal Attack includes a feature called Superlative Superstrength. When Itto has stacks of Superlative Superstrength, his Charged Attack will not consume stamina and will deal higher damage, making it the star of his kit.
There are many ways to gain a stack of Superlative Superstrength. When Itto’s Burst is active, all his Normal Attack hits will grant him one stack. Other than that, a stack can also be obtained by hitting enemies with Ushi, having Ushi attacked by an enemy, and having Ushi leave the field.
6 Not Having Sufficient Battery
Because Arataki Itto’s damage mainly comes from his Elemental Burst, players’ priority should be ensuring his Energy is always filled. For this, the team badly needs sufficient Battery. Having some Energy Recharge (ER) on Itto also won’t hurt for this reason, but ER should only be gained from sub-stat, and should not be a priority.
Meanwhile, potential Genshin Impact Battery for Arataki Itto includes Geo or Electro Traveler, Raiden Shogun, Ningguang, or Albedo. Raiden Shogun would especially be amazing as she can also act as the sub-DPS when Itto’s ultimate is on cooldown.
5 Building Itto On Attack
Arataki Itto’s damage scales off his ATK, but his Elemental Burst converts DEF into ATK. Because of this, stacking DEF on the Oni is a better move than building him on ATK. The correct way to arm Itto is by equipping DEF artifact on Timepiece, Geo DMG Bonus on Goblet, and Critical Rate or Critical DMG on Circlet.
Arataki Itto’s best weapon in Genshin Impact, Redhorn Stonethresher, also grants additional Charged Attack DMG according to the wielder’s DEF, making ATK even more irrelevant for him.
4 Using The Wrong Support
Because Arataki Itto isn’t reliant on ATK, using a support that buffs this stat is a rather poor idea. For example, one of the best Claymore in Genshin Impact, Wolf’s Gravestone, performs badly on the Oni as it deeply focuses on the ATK stat. Likewise, support characters that buff ATK like Bennett and Kujou Sara are also frowned upon.
Instead, players should pair Arataki Itto with Gorou, a character that can buff the team’s DEF and Geo DMG. Gorou is basically made to be Itto’s support, so ensuring the two exist in the same team would prove to be fantastic.
3 Using His Physical Attacks
After Arataki Itto uses his Elemental Burst, he infuses his weapon with Geo. For the next 11 seconds, he can deal great damage as his DEF is converted to ATK. After the duration ends, however, Itto has a seven seconds downtime where he should not be on-field. Instead, players should do a character rotation to fill up his Energy and get him ready for the next ultimate cast.
If players insist on using Itto after his Burst ends, his hits will return to a Physical form that deals minuscule damage.
2 Ignoring Normal Attack Level
Even though players should not use Arataki Itto’s Physical hits, they should still prioritize leveling his Normal Attack as the main feature of his ability, his special Charged Attack, scales with his Normal Attack talent.
After that, the next priority would be his Elemental Burst. Enhancing this talent will increase the amount of DEF converted into ATK, allowing Itto to become a larger powerhouse. Last but not least, his Elemental Skill. This part of his kit isn’t as essential as the other two talents, but can still deal great damage with proper leveling, so it should not be neglected.
1 Not Using Ushi
As previously mentioned, Arataki Itto’s Elemental Skill has the lowest priority in leveling. Nevertheless, not summoning Ushi into the battlefield would be one of the worst offenses Travelers can make while playing Arataki Itto.
The auxiliary member of the Arataki Gang provides the following benefits:
Summoning Ushi grants Arataki Itto a decent amount of Energy Ushi will continuously taunt the enemies, keeping Itto save from some damage Ushi grants one stack of Superlative Superstrength when he was summoned, when he got hit, and when he left the field Ushi can deal decent damage if he’s summoned after Arataki Itto uses his ultimate The little bull acts as a Geo construct, so he can resonate with skills like Zhongli’s Stone Steele
Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
