Updated January 15, 2022, by Scott Vengel: Many Genshin Impact fans are looking forward to a return to Inazuma after the Lantern Rite festival in version 2.4. For some players coming back to Genshin Impact for this year’s Lantern Rite, Inazuma is a completely new region with difficult enemies and mechanics. Yet, despite the appearance of new Electro-infused Hilichurls, Nobushi, and Mirror Maidens, the Fatui Skirmishers still make up one of the most common foes in Genshin Impact. As such, this article will be updated to include locations missed in Inazuma, as well as some more information on the strategies needed to beat Skirmishers in battle.

About Skirmishers

When encountering the Skirmishers, they will appear in groups of three that consist of one melee type (Anemoboxers, Electrohammers), one ranged (Geochanters, Pyroslingers), and one heavy ranged (Cryogunners, Hydrogunners).

When defeated, the Skirmishers drop recruit, sergeant, or lieutenant insignias, depending on the enemy’s level. Insignias are used as an ascension item for several weapons and for Diluc, Ningguang, Rosaria, and Tartaglia.

Skirmisher Locations

Skirmishers can be located across the Genshin Impact map. They can be farmed at 15 locations around the game’s world. These locations include:

1. Stormterror’s Lair

There is only one Skirmisher spawn in Stormterror’s Lair. It is located northwest of the waypoint, up on top of a small cliff.

2. Galesong Hill

There are three Skirmisher spawn locations in Galesong Hill. Two of the Skirmisher spawn locations are located to the northwest and southwest of the Dadaupa Gorge waypoint, and one is located to the southwest of the Electro Hypostasis.

3. Cuijue Slopes

There are two Skirmisher spawn locations in Cuijue Slopes located just south of the waypoint to the north of the slope.

4. Stone Gate

One Skirmisher spawn is located up in the mountains northeast of the Stone Gate waypoint.

5. Mingyun Village

There is one Skirmisher spawn located just south of the waypoint north of Mingyun village.

6. Dunyu Ruins

There are a total of four Skirmisher spawns along the road that runs through Dunyu Ruins. Due to the number of Skirmisher spawns close to one another, this is an ideal location to visit if the player is choosing to farm only a set number of locations each day.

7. Tianqui Valley

There is only one Skirmisher group Tianqui Valley, located directly west of the waypoint.

8. Lingju Pass

There is one Skirmisher spawn located in Lingju Pass to the west of the waypoint. Players should be careful not to fight the Skirmishers close to the waterfall, as the enemies can occasionally become glitched on the cliff requiring the player to leave and return.

9. Mt. Tianheng

There is one Skirmisher spawn in the Mt. Tianheng region north of the road leading to Liyue Harbor.

10. Lisha

There is one Skirmisher spawn in the Lisha region to the southwest of Liyue. This group can be found in the mountains to the southeast of the region’s ruins.

11. Dragonspine

Several Fatui Skirmisher spawns can be found in Dragonspine. The vast majority are on the northern coast, making it one of the most Fatui dense regions so far in Genshin Impact.

12. Narukami Island

Only one Fatui Skirmisher group can be found along the path between Araumi and Konda Village.

13. Mikage Furnace

Several Fatui Skirmisher spawns can be found around the Mikage Furnace on Yashiori Island. Players should be aware that Balethunder effects are present in this region, which they will need to account for when targeting these groups.

14. Watatsumi Island

There are three Fatui Skirmisher spawns located on Watatsumi Island, located on the north and south of the island’s coast. Another can be found on a small island to the southeast of Watatsumi Island.

15. Seirai Island

Many Fatui Skirmishers can be found on the northwestern island of the Seirai Island region. This is the most Fatui dense area of Inazuma.

16. Events

Fatui Skirmishers are also a common foe during daily commissions and in the Spiral Abyss. Players should ensure that they prepare adequately for these situations, as the Skirmishers during these events can be particularly difficult to defeat.

Fighting Fatui Skirmishers

Be sure to be ready for a fight when taking on the Skirmishers, as they pack a formidable punch. Skirmishers often come in combinations that prove difficult for players, such as the infamous Cryo and Hydrogunner duos which combine the high power of Cryo attacks, the healing of Hydro, and the annoyance of Frozen reactions that stop the player in their tracks. Genshin Impact players can mitigate the difficulty of these combinations by focusing all of their efforts on one enemy at a time, destroying their chance to create elemental reactions.

Additionally, certain Fatui Skirmishers have special abilities, which make them more difficult in a group encounter. Anemoboxers have the recuperation ability, which re-motivates their comrades to fight after their elemental armor has been destroyed. Hydrogunners have healing capabilities that can easily make encounters longer. As such, players should focus on targeting Hydrogunners and Anemoboxers before they attack other Fatui Skirmishers in a group.

On the other hand, Fatui Skirmishers also often spawn with Mirror Maiden and Fatui Agents, which can prove difficult for many players. Overall, players can navigate any encounter by carefully planning which order they attack enemies.

Genshin Impact is available on mobile devices, PC, and PS4 with a Switch version in development.
