The Spectral Secrets event can be launched by speaking to Katheryne of the Adventurer’s Guild, similar to the standard daily expeditions. A and B-tier Spectral Secret expeditions are completed simply by sending characters out and waiting for their return. To guarantee good rewards, players should ensure each expedition they send has a “Perfect” rating. However, the S-tier expeditions require players to first conduct a preliminary investigation in person.

Spectral Secrets Preliminary Investigation
To begin a Preliminary Investigation in Genshin Impact’s latest event, all players need to do is click on the S-tier icon in the Spectral Secrets map. This will allow them to see the quest area and teleport to the nearest Waypoint. The location of the Preliminary Investigation will be different with each new day, but for the first one, players have two goals to complete.
The Spectral Secrets event is all about investigating Specters, a new Genshin Impact monster for the Inazuma region. Once they’ve reached the Preliminary Investigation area, players will need to lure out these Specters by lighting three Electric Lamps. This is done by collecting an Electrograna from a nearby Thunder Sakura Bough and leading it to each of the three Lamps. Once all three Lamps have been activated, the Specters will appear and immediately attack the player.
Beating Specters in Genshin Impact
Specters have a unique feature in Genshin Impact, which can make them very dangerous to some characters. Whenever a Specter takes a large amount of damage from a single hit, it begins to build Fury. Fury is represented by a red icon that hovers above the Specter. When the Fury bar reaches max, the Specter will become much more powerful and violently explode when killed.
There are three types of Specter in the game, one for each of Genshin Impact’s Anemo, Geo, and Hydro elements. These Specters all have unique attacks, which change and become more powerful when their Fury bar is maxed.
Once players have safely defeated the Specters, the Preliminary Investigation will be complete. After heading back to the Adventurer’s Guild, players will be able to send out their characters on the S-tier expedition to claim Primogens, XP Books, and Character Ascension materials.
Genshin Impact is available for Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5, with a Switch version in development.
