Albedo can perform nicely even on low-budget materials, but players should keep in mind that his Normal attack has a low multiplier, making him a poor choice as a main DPS. Luckily, to make up for this, his Skill can deal massive DMG without him having to be on-field. While Albedo fans rejoice every time he’s featured in his Genshin Impact rerun banner, the Chief Alchemist of Mondstadt still needs to be built correctly.

Updated on October 14, 2022, by Nahda Nabiilah: While Genshin Impact continues expanding into new regions and featuring new characters in almost every patch, the game keeps rotating old characters into their own rerun banners. With that plan, Albedo rerun is sure to hit Genshin Impact’s wish page occasionally. For that, it is important to keep updating Albedo’s best builds to match all the new artifacts and weapons. New and old Albedo havers can check this guide to get the up-to-date builds of Albedo.
Albedo’s Talent Overview
Albedo operates best as an off-field Sub-DPS in Genshin Impact. What helps him excel in this job is his Elemental Skill that procs and deals high Geo DMG even when he’s not on the field. On the other hand, the other talents in his kit all have their own utility and can help make Albedo a strong Geo user in Genshin Impact.
Normal Attack
Albedo’s Normal attack, Favonius Bladework - Weiss, is completely useless to his kit. He has one of the lowest scalings on his Normal attack among all other sword users in Genshin Impact. It is recommended not to play Albedo in any team composition that puts him in a position to inflict DMG with his Normal attacks.
Elemental Skill
Albedo’s Elemental Skill, Abiogenesis - Solar Isotoma, is the star of his kit. All players need to do is place it on the field and watch it do its magic. Every 2 seconds, Transient Blossoms will be triggered when enemies inside the Skill’s AoE take DMG. This scales with Albedo’s DEF and can easily reach great numbers even in F2P builds.
In addition, Albedo’s Elemental Skill has other utilities, such as:
Generating Elemental Shards that provide minor shields through the Crystallized reaction with aura Elements (Pyro, Cryo, Hydro, and Electro). Generating 0. 7 Elemental Particles on each Transient Blossom (every two seconds). Raise the active character from the ground to plunge or avoid an attack. Players can also use this ability to reach high places in exploration.
Of course, it’s important to note that Transient Blossoms doesn’t proc on enemy shields since it gets triggered by DMG and not by hit. So hitting an enemy without dealing DMG won’t activate Albedo’s Elemental Skill. Abiogenesis - Solar Isotoma scales with Albedo’s DEF and can CRIT on enemies, which raises the importance of building him with CRIT on top of DEF.
Elemental Burst
Unfortunately, Albedo in Genshin Impact has a small issue with split scaling. His Elemental Skill scales with DEF, but his Burst scales with ATK. Because Albedo’s better built on DEF, players may find his Elemental Burst underwhelming. Luckily, his Burst grants the team 125 Elemental Mastery for 10 seconds after it’s cast. So it can serve as a buffing move.
Talent Level-Up Priority
Since Albedo’s most important talent is his Elemental Skill, players should opt to maximize the level of this first. Although his Elemental Burst scales with his ATK, it still inflicts a decent DMG that can put it 2nd in line after his Elemental Skill. As for his Normal attack, it’s better if players kept it at level 1 without touching it.
Best Artifact For Albedo
Because his Transient Blossom scales with DEF, players are recommended to focus on this stat to maximize his potential. Albedo will not require ATK, so for his main stat, players can use:
Timepiece: DEF Goblet: Geo DMG Bonus Circlet: Critical Rate or Critical DMG
4-Husk Of Opulent Dreams
The artifact released in Genshin Impact 2.3 is easily Albedo’s new best-in-slot set. The 2-set increases DEF by 30%, while the 4-set effect increases Albedo’s Geo DMG and DEF by up to 24% (over 12-16s). So in total, the Chief Alchemist will enjoy 54% extra DEF, and a 24% Geo Bonus.
Note that this artifact can stack while Albedo is off-field, so don’t worry about not being able to maximize the 4-set effect. Additionally, the stacks will slowly disappear as Albedo spends more time in battle, so try not to swap him out quickly after casting his abilities.
4-Tenacity of the Millelith
Players who are trying to get the most out of Albedo’s supportive moveset can also opt for artifacts that enhance the entire team’s performance. Usually, 4-Noblesse Oblige is used for this job, but as Albedo consistently deals Elemental Skill DMG, he can easily maintain the buff from 4-Tenacity of the Millelith. Of course, this will lower his personal DPS, but with the right team, he can enhance the party’s overall damage count.

2-Archaic Petra + 2-Husk Of Opulent Dreams
This is the best set players can go for if they’re unable to get a 4-set Husk of Opulent Dreams. Albedo will get a 15% Geo Bonus and 30% DEF with this artifact combo.
2-Archaic Petra + 2-Noblesse Oblige
This set will increase the DMG of Albedo’s Burst by 20%. His Burst will not deal a lot of DMG on DEF build, so this is a viable choice if players wish to see higher Burst DMG. This is also a great choice if players have Albedo’s second Constellation in Genshin Impact.
2-Archaic Petra + 2-ATK+18%
Gladiator’s Finale and some other artifacts increase Albedo’s ATK by 18%. This will amplify the DMG of Albedo’s Skill upon casting and his Burst. This set is a good option if players have great substat with it.
Other than the mentioned few, here are some other alternatives players can use for Albedo in Genshin Impact. They’re not highly recommended, but can do the job quite well:
4-Archaic Petra: Upon obtaining an Elemental Shard created through a Crystallize Reaction, all party members gain a 35% DMG Bonus for that particular element for 10s. Only one form of Elemental DMG Bonus can be gained in this manner at any one time. 2-Defender’s Will: DEF +30%. 2-Gambler: Increases Elemental Skill DMG by 20%.
Best Weapon For Albedo
Albedo’s best-in-slot weapon used to be the 3-star weapon Harbinger of Dawn. This weapon offers Critical DMG as its substat and Critical Rate on its passive, allowing Albedo to obtain an extra 46.9% Critical DMG, and 28% Critical Rate from only the weapon. Harbinger of Dawn’s 28% Critical Rate can only be maintained if players can keep his HP above 90%, but this won’t be a problem since Albedo will be swapped out after casting his Skill.

In Version 2.3, players are treated with an event-limited 4-star sword, Cinnabar Spindle. This weapon is designed specifically for Albedo, granting high substat (69% DEF), but low base ATK (454). Luckily, since the Chief Alchemist doesn’t need ATK, this won’t be an issue. Other than the stat, the weapon’s passive is also brilliant for Albedo. Cinnabar Spindle grants extra Elemental Skill DMG by 80% of his DEF. Even though players will have less Critical Rate and Critical DMG, this 4-star weapon manages to outperform Harbinger of Dawn.
Another alternative is the free weapon given out in 1.2, Festering Desire. This weapon will amplify Albedo Skill’s DMG via its passive and will allow him to gain his Burst faster because of its Energy Recharge substat.
Best Teammates For Albedo
Albedo’s ease of use allows him to be viable for any kind of team. He can easily fit in with anyone and perform greatly all the same. If players ever wonder who to use on their last party slot, Albedo can be the answer. He is excellent if players are running a Geo DPS such as Ningguang. He will create Geo resonance with her, and they will synergize in creating energy particles, allowing them to Burst more often. Other than that, Gorou, a unit released in Version 2.3, is an amazing support for Geo characters that rely on DEF. This includes Genshin Impact characters like Arataki Itto, Albedo, and the Favonius Maid, Noelle.
If players are seeking a meta team comp, then Albedo is commonly paired with Hu Tao + Xingqiu + Zhongli in their Vaporize team, or Xiao + Jean + Zhongli in Xiao’s mono Anemo-Geo team.
Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
