Unsurprisingly, with how diverse Genshin Impact’s roster is, not all characters are well suited to carry Thundering Pulse. In fact, for some characters, wielding the 5-star bow hurt their playstyle. For players that want to pull on Genshin Impact’s Thundering Pulse banner, knowing the best units that can wield it is crucial.
S-Tier
Characters that fit into Thundering Pulse’s S-Tier are the ones able to perfectly wield and fully benefit from Thundering Pulse’s stats and passives. They’re preferably Genshin Impact characters that benefit from ATK scaling and depend on their Normal attacks to inflict damage.
Tartaglia
Childe has many 5-star Bows that can complement his playstyle, all of which are ranking high on the Genshin Impact’s bows tier lists.

These weapons are Polar Star, Thundering Pulse, and Skyward Harp. At the most optimal condition, Polar Star is the best option for Childe, but the other two weapons are really close behind it.
Yoimiya
Thundering Pulse was introduced during Yoimiya’s first banner, and it seems like it will always accompany her during her rerun banners. It is easily noticeable that Thundering Pulse is Yoimiya’s best-in-slot weapon. Since Yoimiya gets CRIT Rate stats when she’s ascended, Thundering Pulse grants her the CRIT DMG she needs. That can help her gain a massive CRIT ratio and give players the flexibility to build her artifacts into either CRIT DMG or Rate.
A-Tier
Characters that fit into Thundering Pulse’s A-Tier are characters that can’t fully function all the bow’s stats and passives. But even so, Thundering Pulse is a weapon that competes with their best-in-slot.
Ganyu
Ganyu can either take the Main DPS role and shine with her Charged attacks or join Morgana’s team compositions in Genshin Impact and let her Burst do all the work. Either way, as Thundering Pulse enhances Normal attack, the passive doesn’t really match her playstyle,

Nevertheless, even though Ganyu won’t be benefiting from the Normal attack DMG Bonus, Thundering Pulse still serves as an excellent Stat Stick that can provide a lot of crucial stats like CRIT DMG and ATK.
Fischl
Thundering Pulse can work pretty well on a Physical DPS Fischl. She needs the weapon’s high Base ATK, CRIT DMG, and ATK% buffs. The only problem is that Fischl suffers from long cooldowns that will keep the bow’s passive locked until she gets her Oz out again. So players will spend half of their time dealing damage with two Thundering Pulse stacks. That makes other bows like Polar Star a better fit for her kit.
Aloy
While she’s considered one of the worst DPS characters in Genshin Impact, Aloy can still wield Thundering Pulse like it’s made for her. The bow increases Aloy’s stats and buffs her Normal attacks, which she further increases when she uses her Elemental Skill and goes into her Rushing Ice State. Of course, since Aloy can’t offer anything after her Rushing Ice State is over, it’s better to switch her off for another character until her Elemental Skill is ready again.
B-Tier
In B-Tier, the characters can function with Thundering Pulse but are not recommended since they are wasting most of what Thundering Pulse offers and can do better with other bows.
Amber
Amber can operate as a main and Sub DPS in Genshin Impact. Players can either operate Amber to inflict Charged attacks damage or use her kit to buff her teammates. In whatever style she plays, Base ATK and CRIT DMG are the only benefits she wants from Thundering Pulse.

Yelan
Compared to Thundering Pulse, there are many better weapons Yelan can wield in Genshin Impact. From everything the 5-star bow can offer, Yelan only wants its CRIT DMG.
Do Not Use Tier
It is not recommended for these characters to use Thundering Pulse since the weapon in their hands is a waste of the bow’s potential.
Kujou Sara
As a Support, Kujou Sara has little damage and can only be viable as a buffer. Just like Bennett, her buff is calculated based on her Base ATK, which Thundering Pulse has a lot of. Other than that, there’s nothing the bow can offer her. So it’s not recommended for Kujou Sara to wield Thundering Pulse.
Venti
Even when played as a Sub-DPS, Venti can still get more from other bows. In fact, when Venti is built on Elemental Mastery in Genshin Impact, he deals more damage through his Elemental Reactions.

Diona
Diona is a pure Support character in Genshin Impact. Her job is to shield and heal her allies. In all of her kit, there is no place for ATK, CRIT, or Normal ATK. She mainly needs HP to shield and Energy Recharge to maintain the usage of her Burst.
Gorou
Gorou doesn’t actually need stats at all. Nothing benefits him or increases his buffs, literally. Not DEF, not ATK, not Geo DMG, nothing. The only beneficial stat he can have is Energy Recharge to keep casting his Elemental Burst. For that, Thundering Pulse is completely wasted in Gorou’s paws.
Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
