The legend says that The Chasm was formed a few thousand years ago, where a meteorite fell upon the land. However, as the Archon War continued, the amount of bitterness was strong enough to cause the meteorite to leap back to its origin. The area it once resided in is now left with a giant hole known only as the Chasm. It’s highly likely that this event causes the area to have a distinctive geological condition. This includes special fungi plantation, mushroom-like creatures, and of course, the Dark Mud.

What Does The Dark Mud Do In Genshin Impact?

As players explore the underground area of The Chasm in Genshin Impact, they may find an area covered by a dark, purple mud. This goo provides some debuffs for party members as well as a few buffs for enemies.

The Genshin Impact Dark Mud has the following effects:

Players will gradually lose their Lumentsone Adjuvant’s energy Players will gradually lose HP while in the area Enhances monsters in the mud, making them harder to beat Affects the character’s mobility while walking in the mud. Players can’t sprint in the mud unless their Lumenstone Adjuvant is at least level 9, so units like Ayaka won’t be able to enter her Cryo infusion.

Among the Dark Mud, players will be able to find a larger purple lump. These crystallized darkness are called Oozing Concretions.

How To Remove The Dark Mud In The Chasm

To remove the Oozing Concretions and Dark Mud in Genshin Impact, players can use the Blooming Light ability from the Lumentsone Adjuvant. However, as the Oozing Concretions have different levels, Travelers must ensure their Lumentsone Adjuvant is strong enough to defeat the darkness. Level 2 gadget can destroy small Oozing Concretions, but level 6 is required for some of the larger ones. Level 2 Oozing Concretions include a purple crystal wall.

To level up their Genshin Impact gadget, players must collect Lumenspar and Lumenstone Ore, then talk to Jinwu at the camp. Lumenspars behave similarly to Genshin Impact’s Oculus, in that Travelers can spot the item on the map if it’s nearby.

The first time players remove the Genshin Impact Dark Mud, they’ll earn the “Yet the Darkness Did Not Overcome It…” Achievement. This Wonders of The World achievement grants five Primogems.

In their journey in Teyvat, Travelers will come across many Genshin Impact achievements. With the release of the new area, the Genshin Impact Chasm, players can expect to earn a decent amount of Primogems. There will be plenty of things to do, both on the surface and in the underground Chasm. Players can even earn some large rewards from collecting the available Lumenspars. The rewards given by Jinwu will be somewhat comparable to those granted by the Sacred Sakura Tree in Inazuma.

Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
