Whether they’ve been spending time, money, or a combination of both, it’s likely that players have reached a point where they are attempting to Ascend all of their characters. However, this is proving more difficult than expected for players that have acquired the professional chef from Liyue, Xiangling. This is due to one of her Ascension materials, the Jueyun Chili, being a little harder to find. One of the factors that make the Jueyun Chili so difficult to locate is that unlike a Damaged Mask or Divining Scroll, the Chilis don’t drop when enemies are slain. Rather, Genshin Impact players must search for them in the wild growing off of bushes. Thankfully, there are a few areas that are rife with the tantalizing Chilis needed to Ascend Xiangling.

Updated on October 26, 2022, by Nahda Nabiilah: The release of Sumeru in version 3.0 means players will have to collect a lot more region-specific materials to Ascend their favorite characters. However, it doesn’t mean that people will be free from regions that were previously available, like the land of Geo, Liyue. Genshin Impact characters will always require a local specialty from the nation they hail from, so as long as new units from Liyue are coming, the region will always be relevant for its materials. When it comes to Jueyun Chili, though, Xiangling is still the only one who needs it.
Qingce Village
Although the Jueyun Chilis may be tough to find, the material’s description gives a good place to get started: Qingce Village in Liyue. By teleporting to the waypoint in the area and following the path through Qingce Village, players should be able to find an ample amount of Chilis in order to help Ascend their favorite Liyue chef.
Jueyun Karst
The other place players will likely want to take advantage of is Jueyun Karst. By teleporting to the Statue of the Seven near Qingyun Peak and gliding down, players will discover Jueyun Chilis all around the area.
Additionally, between Nantianmen’s teleport waypoint and Tianqiu Valley’s, there are two Jueyun Chili plants on the cliff around the ruins.
Stone Gate
Initially, reaching the Jueyun Chilis at Stone Gate is quite a hassle, but thanks to the existence of Ridge Watch Domain, the area can now be accessed easily. This domain is the one where people can get Tenacity of the Millelith and Pale Flame artifacts, the best-in-slot items for Genshin Impact Zhongli and Eula, respectively. The Chili bushes are all sitting on the cliff, so make sure to not drop to the lower ground while walking here.
By investing time in Ascending Xiangling, players will find that she makes a great addition to any Genshin Impact team composition. Not only can she play the role of Support on a squad where Diluc is the main damage dealer, but her kit also allows her to thrive as a damage dealer as well.
Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
