Just as the zodiac signs have elements that correspond with the nature of a person’s ruling planet, this same theory can apply to a person’s personality through their Meyer Briggs Identification Type. Which Genshin Impact element are you? Is it fiery Pyro, ruled by the God of War Murata? Or could it be more balanced, such as Dendro, ruled by the God of Wisdom? There’s only one way to find out.
Updated on December 22, 2021, by Scott Vengel: Genshin Impact has been moving along their schedule at an incredible pace. Fans are now in the middle of what has been deemed the “Geo Update” — version 2.3. Having just completed the dual rerun banners for Albedo and Eula, players in the community are now given the opportunity to pull on a banner featuring two new Geo characters: Arataki Itto and Gorou. As if the decision to pull or not wasn’t already hard enough for Genshin Impact fans, there are also rumors going around the community about the possible release of Yun Jin and Shenhe. Nonetheless, with more characters to explore, this article will be updated to expand more on the intricate personalities associated with each element.
INTJ, AKA The Architect: Electro
The power of lightning is well-suited to that of an INTJ. Quick thinkers and usually the only ones in the room who have analyzed every minor observation before anyone else has the chance to, this quick thinking is compatible with that of a lightning strike.
Electro has some of the more interesting elemental reactions from a tactical standpoint. Rather than focusing on one-off damage (though overload is guilty of this), reactions like electro-charged and superconduct focus on crowd control and claymore damage boosting respectively. This makes Electro a great element for quick-thinking tacticians, like INTJs.
INTP, AKA The Logician: Anemo
INTPs are famous for their creative thinking and like to think of themselves as unique in their own right, not unlike the wind itself. The power of Anemo is that of Lord Barbatos, with a Divine Ideal of ‘Freedom,’ which speaks to the core of an INTP and their way of thinking.
Anemo is a fairly unconventional element, needing to be applied after another element to activate their reactions. Naturally, with quickly changing conditions in Genshin Impact’s combat system, Anemo is perfect for flexible-thinking INTPs.
ENTJ, AKA The Commander: Cryo
Being a leader means never having the fear of stepping in front of the rest. While this is an admirable and honorable trait, it’s also one that proves lonely at the top. Although ENTJs are often kind and generous to those who follow them, they can also be intimidating, not unlike the power of solid ice, such as with Cryo.

ENTJs enjoy progress before all else, being leaders that base their success on accomplishments and milestones. This kind of behavior fits many of the Cryo users in Genshin Impact, such as Chongyun who’s life goal is set on finding and exorcising a ghost. That said, not reaching these kinds of goals can also be disheartening for an ENTJ.
ENTP, AKA The Debater: Geo
For those who appreciate a good and quick-witted debate, it seems only fair that an ENTP would possess the power of Geo, otherwise known as earth. This element is well-balanced and grounded, something every good debater needs in their midst.
Geo stands apart from other elements in Genshin Impact. Without any offensive elemental reactions, as well as a focus on building and improving defense, it takes a lot of wits to use Geo effectively. Luckily, wit is a trait that ENTPs have plenty of.
INFJ, AKA The Advocate: Hydro
Water has long been associated with fluidity and intuitive nature, two things that are all too familiar to an INFJ. Hydro, which has a Divine Ideal of ‘justice’ seems too perfectly fitting for those who tirelessly campaign for what they believe in all while following their own intuitive nature.
Hydro users tend to fit this bill to the letter, most being inquisitive and introspective. INFJs are constantly in their minds, trying to understand the intentions and emotions of the people around them.
INFP, AKA The Mediator: Dendro
Nature can be kind and gentle when necessary but also harsh and unyielding, similar to the qualities that an INFP must possess as they seek out the next cause that could use their help. Genuine and compassionate, they could be somewhat akin to Mother Nature herself.
Though only a few Dendro characters have been shown in Genshin Impact, most exhibit the kinds of behaviors that are common in an INFP. Most influential, Baizhu is a pharmacist that lives to help the people of Liyue (though a little awkward and cold at times.)
ENFJ, AKA The Protagonist: Anemo
To possess the traits of an ENFJ, one must first be able to command those around them with a charisma that’s incomparable to any other. The power of Anemo is to command attention and also bring forth (literally) a calming air when needed, two things that ENFJs are wholly good at.
The first element encountered by the Traveler on their journey, Anemo has a long cast of charismatic, do-gooders. From Jean’s overworking to Xiao’s behind-the-scenes struggles to the Traveler (who is literally the protagonist of Genshin Impact), Anemo is at no shortage for ENFJs.
ENFP, AKA The Campaigner: Dendro
ENFPs are the embodiment of a warm spring day overlooking a glass-like lakeside and their personalities exude that. Therefore, the only appropriate power to give them would be the element of nature itself, proving worthy with its ability to calm and soothe.
ENFPs are openhearted and exhibit good energy that motivates the people around them. For energetic Dendro users, like Yaoyao, this kind of good nature is very common.
ISTJ, AKA The Logistician: Electro
Similar, but not to be confused with, the Logician, that same quick thinking and ability to think independently while accomplishing jobs in a methodical way makes them worthy of Electro. Their pride is almost unmatched, making even more worthy compatibility with the element that would serve them well.

Naturally, ISTJs match Electro in many of the same ways that INTJ does: with tactical reactions comes the need for tactically-minded users. ISTJs are methodical thinkers, making them perfect for the logical style of gameplay that Electro demands.
ISFJ, AKA The Defender: Electro
ISFJs are always ready to defend those they love without a moment’s hesitation, no matter what it takes to do so. This kind spirit and compassion are both winning qualities but should not overshadow their fierce defenses, wholly worthy of Electro.
This matches many of the Electro users in Genshin Impact’s cast. Most Electro users think with the mindset of protecting those close to them, from the Raiden Shogun’s want for eternity to preserve the nation she loves to Razor’s protection of his “lupicals”.
ESTJ, AKA The Executive: Pyro
When it comes to having the capability to direct and command the general public, it could be said that no other personality type is better at doing so than an ESTJ. To match such a commanding presence, Pyro is the only element that truly feels like it fits.
ESTJs are filled with passion to do what’s right, which makes them one of the most forthright and honest personality types. This matches Pyro users fairly well, often being more loudly-spoken and fiery.
ESFJ, AKA The Consul: Dendro
Yet another compassionate soul is the ESFJ, which is perhaps the most deserving of Dendro as a power. With a Divine Ideal of ‘wisdom,’ the match between such an unbelievable caring person and the power of a nurturing nature force is the picture of perfection.
ESFJs are focused on people and the community, attentively providing for the well-being of others. So far, all Dendro characters have this general guiding principle in Genshin Impact, from Baizhu in the capacity of the Bubu Pharmacy to the God of Wisdom themself.
ISTP, AKA The Virtuoso: Geo
ISTPs are well-versed in many mediums and aren’t afraid to try new things, making Geo the practical source for a power they could have. This element is representative of the earth itself, giving way to many elemental options.

Unlike other elements in Genshin Impact, Geo is a more tangible element focused on the creation of geo-constructs. As such, Geo players require more focus and practicality than other elements, perfect from an ISTP.
ISFP, AKA The Adventurer: Cryo
Sometimes, blazing one’s own path doesn’t always mean using fire to light it. In the case of an ISFP, the adventurer’s spirit is alive and well, forging ahead with a precise and oftentimes solo power: ice.
ISFPs are concerned with making new experiences and pushing the limits of social conventions. That said, Adventurers can often be more susceptible to more risky behaviors that may be suspicious to others, much like how Kaeya or Rosaria operate.
ESTP, AKA The Entrepreneur: Pyro
Pyro doesn’t always mean a person must have a malicious intent to be representative of its force. In the case of an ESTP, Pyro is the only element that matches their sheer force of will when it comes to being the life of the party and taking risks that aren’t always calculated, but always pay off in the end.
ESTPs are attracted to action and are often the first people to run into battle. Whether that be Diluc defending the city of Mondstadt behind the scenes or Yoimiya’s rescue missions, this is a common trait among Pyro users.
ESFP, AKA The Entertainer: Geo
It could be said that an ESFP is the ultimate life of the party, though, with a personality streak that could light up the dullest of moments. In response, Geo, with the Divine Ideal of ‘contracts,’ is appropriate - but rather than forging contracts, it’s more likely they’ve to forge multiple lasting friendships.
ESFPs are all about experiencing new parts of life, and likewise, they are among the most experienced personality types. This is a shared trait for many Geo users, like Zhongli who has lived for thousands of years.
Genshin Impact is available on mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. It is also in development for the Nintendo Switch.
