Even though 2.3 is stacked with new characters and content, developer miHoYo’s recent social media announcement already confirmed a couple of new characters that will join the playable roster including the two polearm users Shenhe and Yun Jin. Upcoming characters are usually revealed six to seven weeks before their update arrives which means that both these characters should arrive in Genshin Impact update 2.4.

The official Genshin Impact lore describes Yun Jin as a prestigious dancer, singer, and brewer who works at the popular Heyu Tea House. She will be a brand new Geo character who caught many Genshin Impact fans by surprise, considering that she was heavily rumored to be an Anemo Vision user. The beta phase for Genshin Impact Version 2.4 has officially started and there are multiple leaks about this update including a new region known as Enkanomiya. A recent leak on Reddit has revealed a large part of Yun Jin’s kit:
Elemental SKill (tap) - allows Yun Jin to spin her polearm with force dealing Geo damage in the process Elemental Skill (hold) - FOrms a shield with damage absorption that scales with Yun Jin’s max. HP. The shields effect is increased to 150% to all elemental and physical damage Elemental Burst - Yun Jin deals AoE Geo damage and applies the “Feiyun Flag” effect to all nearby party members. This effect increases damage output by a percentage of Yun Jin’s current Defense
Yun Jin’s ability to buff party members’ Attack stats by building Defence means that she will be a strong asset suited for most team compositions. Pairing her with Albedo who will arrive in the upcoming Genshin Impact double banner, as well as Itto and Gorou could result in one of the most flexible parties you can build. The Geo reaction crystalize can work independently from all the other elements meaning that it’s decently strong against all elemental shields.
When it comes to her rarity there is no official information but numerous beta sources pretty much confirm that she will be a four-star character. Shenhe and Yun Jin will most likely be featured on the same banner considering that previous leaks have been hinting that Ganyu and Xiao might get a banner re-run meaning that update 2.4 could have a similar pattern as its predecessor containing two new characters for one cycle and a strong double banner re-run for the other.
Genshin Impact is out now for mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5 with a Switch port also in development.
